No. You should be more worried about Rootkits.

Macs are extremely hard to infect with a virus, though there is also spyware,malware, keyloggers, rootkits and so forth than need to be considered.

For almost 4 years I have used my iMac without any protection and without any misfortunes. However with the rising popularity of Macs, I have now installed an overall protection software package on my systems...I also have a macbook pro.

Some idiot is going to say Mac's dont get viruses. They do and yes you should get an antivirus programme

Yes and no. If you are a paranoid you can get one. If you are smart and wont click every link on every pornsite then no, you do not need one.
