windows movie maker is free and easy-to-use for basic video edit but it seems poor when it comes to make up-level movies at home. What you need may be a good editor that owns brilliant special effects and multi-tracks for you to record audios, adjust speed, create pip, etc. Since you wanna a proffessional trailer, I don't know if you care about pay a little money for the movie program. Anyway, I have used ArcSoft ShowBiz for years, their new ShowBiz 5 is good. You can try for a while before you decide to buy.
