My mac is acting weird?

Postby adam » Mon Nov 28, 2011 5:33 am

I have a G5 iMac running 10.4 (Tiger) and it started to act weird
At first, i opened a image on google images then, the mac overheated and crashed the computer while making a extremely loud and annoying buzzing sound and making a really weird pattern on the screen. The mac didn't restart automatically so i just restarted it myself. After that, nothing happened for a while until the computer overheated and made that buzzing sound. After a few more times of that happening i noticed that the graphics card heats up faster than everything else. And now it is happening more often and i can't get support because my model is vintage and i cant get support from apple.

The image was of a energy sword (don't ask why, my little brother searched it up).And no virus i have heard of can do that to a mac.

Could be one of the three your video card is going bad, power supply is bad, or hard drive is going bad. Personally sounds like it could be video card from what you describe.

Ok! I've had a mac for around a year and never had any problems. But already 4 times in the past week when I'm working on something, the computer would automatically shut down by itself (without any warning). It never did that before. Do you think it's a virus? I accidentally opened an unfamiliar email, do you think it could cause problems for my computer? Is this normal for a computer to do that? Any suggestions. Just note I also have antivirus program called NetBarrier X5.
