Hi. I just purchased a new iMac and I can get the Lion up-to-date free upgrade. To do that I have to fill this form in this page - http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore?&partNumber=MD202Z/A

As I bought the computer from a private seller who has obviously purchased it from an Apple store or other seller. All this is UK, please note that! And what do I write in that date of purchase and from who I've purchased it? Will that information affect if I get the update or not? Because I don't know the date for this exact model and when/where was it purchased..

Isn't the serial number enough? What if I approximately note the date? And write him as the seller? Would it ban me from getting the update?

I just don't want to screw up, maybe if you've went through this process, you could explain how it went for you.

Contact the Seller, and ask for (or DEMAND!) a copy of the Invoice.

Then, with that in hand, call Apple Tech Support.

There's no reason for Apple to refuse to provide Lion for Free, as long as the actual Date of Purchase qualifies that computer for the free Upgrade, and the seller didn't already activate OS X..

TIP: Just so you know, this is a "Let the buyer beware." situation.

The computer needs to have been purchased from the Apple Online Store, an Apple Retail Store, or an Apple Authorized Reseller to qualify for the free update. You will need the original invoice from seller to continue with the process.
