i want to tranfer my files from the imac desktop to laptop... its kinda difficut to do it wid a pendrive... like copyin from the pc to the drive n then from the drive to the laptop... is kinda wierd actually... jus thot if it could b done directly.... please do give STEP BY STEP information... if such a thing is actually even possible... thanks!!

1.get a cross over cable , connect your mac and laptop.
2. you need to assign IPs to both machine statically ( u can use 10.0.0.1/2)
3.go to cmd and do a ping test to each other machine ( to confirm the connectivity)
4.share the drive where you data is stored. you would be able to see that drive on other machine . the you can copy whatever you want.

Ifn u cn set up a router betwn the two n run wires from each to it you cn do it that way. U cn also use a "crossover cable" which is kinda like an Ethernet cable but with one pair of the wires crossed. Either way, you just set each comp to have its own IP address lk 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2.
