Restoring an iMac OS X to factory settings without install disc.?

Postby liwanu » Sun Aug 19, 2012 12:19 am

A friend gave me an old iMac OS X version 10.2.8. There was an admin password on it, he couldn't get in so he gave it to me. I went into Single-User Mode and set up a new admin account. What I can't figure out how to do (or I've forgotten) is how to reset all settings to factory settings.... without the install disc. I don't feel like going through a river to purchase one and was wondering if anyone knew a way to do this, possibly through Single-User mode..

not exactly possible, if your os is still usable you can actually create a bootable usb drive.
Using your usb you can restore your mac to its factory settings!

If this still hasn't worked for you, you can try buying install disks.
Their really cheap $10-$20 on ebay.
