The sims 3 not working(mac)?

I have just installed The Sims 3 on my imac. I click on play, it asks me if I want to update it. I did not accept (and that because I have a limited internet). After clicking "No", the mac quits the sims 3...
HELP please..:(

you may have to update it in order to play.
