The i3 processor is a new line of processors from Intel that came out very recently. In addition to the i3, the new line includes the i5 and i7 processors. Dual core has been out for quite some time now and even though I don't have the i3 processor, I would recommend it as it is newer and thus should perform better than the Dual Core processors. Besides, a 27 inch screen is pretty big, so I would just stick with the 21.5 inch with i3.

The i3 is a type of dual core processor. As such, your question is like asking "What's better? A Toyota or a car?"

Also, if you want to game, you probably shouldn't be getting a Mac in the first place.
