Alright so im going into college and right now i have an old macbook (2007 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Intel GMA X3100 144 MB Graphics Processor) and was wondering weather or not to get the iMac 21.5 inch 2.7 GHz or a 15 inch macbook pro. I plan on using it for college but i already have my laptop but that is getting outdated with a bad battery and not much hard drive. So i could keep my laptop and get the less expensive iMac or sell it and go with a macbook pro?

I think Neither.

For the 1000+ that you will be spending on a computer, you could get a PC with at least 3 times as much power. The iMac will probably last you longer, but in a college setting I would much prefer a laptop. So out of those 2 I would choose the Macbook, but a PC laptop with a comparable price would give you much more "bang for your buck".
