Why is the imac so expensive?

It's because people are willing to pay that price... supply and Demand. It's just like Alienware, you're paying $500 for the name.

Most of these people put it on their credit card or get some other kind of loan.

Really, if your PC isn't working, you have a Capital One Master Card with a $2000 limit, and Apple Fanboys promising a PC that doesn't break down or get a Virus

IMO apple's products are targeted towards specific customers with deep pockets, thou they are better than pc in somethings like better quality hardware, better support from apple, user friendly OS as mac owners dont run to shops to fix viruses and 'settings' evrey week... But still its not worth of 3x price of a pc :D

Simple answer is because naive people in the world will always pay ridiculous prices because they think more money means better quality
