A good tablet for my 8 year old?

My 8 year old son wants a tablet for his birthday. I need some suggestions. I'm kind of anti apple because I dislike itunes and the whole concept; so no ipad. He steals my android phone all the time and purchase games, I'd like a tablet with the android market to make him happy. Not something too big, just a 7 or 8 inch. Something with videos and music, books he can purchase. You know. Thanks for the help!

not sure what you mean by "dislike itunes and the whole concept". they work the same as anyone else. mp3 files you purchase. but if you don't want apple and you want videos, music, and books then you might look at the kindle fire. 200 bucks and it does all that stuff. 7" screen.
