Trojan horse virus - can't open Google Chrome...?

Postby tucker » Tue Sep 11, 2012 11:13 pm

I was using my laptop. My browser suddenly closed, and this popup came up and said I had 16 potential threats. Half of the problems said Trojan...? I looked it up, and found it to be a virus. The thing is, I barely know anything about this kind of stuff. Could someone give me easy to read instructions on how to get rid of the Trojans, or should I just go somewhere like Best Buy?

I also cannot open Google Chrome at all; my firewall (I honestly don't know exactly what that is still... :P) keeps preventing me from doing so. I'm actually on my iPad right now.

Go to your firewall settings. Look for the settings and go to "exceptions" (or whatever) and tick the box with google chrome. Press ok and that should enable google chrome to work.

Google search "Avast purchase" go to first site that pops up and purchase the setup from there. after purchase, Install it and Scan your whole system.

AAAAAAHHHHH

You didn't choose me as best answer on that other question of yours, but I HAVE THE SOLUTION

Print out this webpage. If you follow the directions, you will have a Clean computer for real (you just have to be willing to spend a bit of time on it.)

EDIT
I forgot to include the link. oops. here it is:

Good luck!

Trojan horse virus - can't open Google Chrome...?

Ok sounds like a bitchy baaaaaad jobby first of all try the system restore first in safe mode, people say it is not to fix virus infections but that was one of the 2 main reasons they created it. If that fails try the usual run malwarebytes and your av in safe mode, if the warning had a specific name ie security2012 or summats similar just google its removal

See if you can launch internet explorer.
Most likely the firewall errors are malware related.
If its a no go then take it into the shop. If it works then google the name of the baaaaaad security program and see what it takes to remove it.
If you are concerned about the steps or about possible dataloss - then taking it to the shop is once again your best bet.

You can try restoring your computer.
Click start
All programs
Accessories
System tools
System restore
Then click, "Restore my computer to an earlier time". This will get everything back to normal. Although I don't think it actually gets rid of the virus. purchase "AVG AntiVirus 2012" and see if you can move it to "quarantine". If this doesn't work then take it to a computer specialist. They'll remove it for a price depending on what your case is.
