Wacom cintiq tablet vs. Ipad 2 for drawing?

Postby hal66 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 3:24 pm

I have been looking at the 12in wacom cintiq tablet and the ipad 2 for drawing. I want to buy sketchbook pro, and it works for both. There are differenes, one being wacom tablet has to be hooked up to a computer to work, and its also 500 dollars more
But my real question is- Is the art performance good on both?

Wacom cintiq tablet vs. Ipad 2 for drawing?

Although Wacom does have the hindrance of having to be hooked up to the computer, it's still a graphics tool leader in the industry compared to the ipad which is not specifically made for graphic arts. Personally I love the Wacom Intous 4 that I use, it's been a great tool and I have created quite a bit of work with it. Call me a purist, but until ipad is advertised directly for graphic arts/digital painting use, I wouldn't rely heavily on it for that service. It doesn't come with the right type of hardware and software to pick up strokes like the Wacom does. You can see my work which is entirely done on a Wacom at topgorgon.com
