It's for her birthday. I need to send it through the mail (she lives in another state) so I can't take her any place myself or spend a day with her (although that would be my first choice).

I have little boys myself, so I don't know what little girls are into these days. She has a Wii, and an iPad. She isn't super girly (at least she won't admit to it). :-) But I wouldn't be opposed to getting her something a little girly.

You could make your own necklace for her, she would definitely wear it because it's form her relative and it's real... It's also easy to send thru mail.

The girl you're describing already has a Wii console and an iPad. That's pretty much describing that she's rich enough to have any item she wants. The only thing I can suggest right now:

Beads & Necklaces - if she's into beauty and cosmetics
Athletic gears - if she's into sports
Books - if she's into reading
Special Wii games like Mario Kart or Tennis or Dance Dance Revolution or something like that
Hello Kitty toys and playset or Barbie dolls and stuff if she's into teahouses and doll collections.

They have these neat shops if you enjoy being creative that I make gifts all of the time at in almost all states. They are the paint your own pottery places. If you are a good artisit you could go and paint her a jewlery box or tea set. I think these kinds of gifts are best because she can keep it for a long time and she will always remember that you took time to make it for her.

How about some cute clothes from Justice? Or if she likes Justin Bieber, that should be easy to figure out, Also, you could get her best friend necklaces!
