first of all, the iPhone 4 you're buying must either be for AT&T (most USA sellers), or factory unlocked (more expensive). but yes, you can use your existing AT&T sim card in that iPhone 4 and use it.

disclosure: unless your Captivate uses a micro-sim card, you will need to cut your sim card to use it in the iPhone 4. you can buy an exact size cutter online, or purchase a stencil and cut it manually with a knife or scissors. you can possibly request a new micro-sim card from your local AT&T store, but I usually just cut it myself.

You'd need a microSIM but other than that I don't see a problem.
