So for about a year now, my iPhone will just die no matter how much battery I have left. I usually just plug it in and its fine after that. However, I'm going to need it while I'm on a road trip and I can't really charge it that often. Can i fix it without replacing the battery?

You could go at an apple store and have it replaced i think... or you can just buy an better phone
