Going to be buying my first smartphone and I am wondering if the 3GS is still worth getting since new stuff is coming out? It's only 49$ right now and I really need a new phone. Is the 3GS just a really good all around phone that will last me at least a few years?

Of course the 3GS is still good enough! Although the Iphone 4 is out that doesn't mean everything else is petty compared to it. Many are still clinging onto the 3GS and since the new release, $49 is a great price for it. Whether it can last you a few years is a different matter since your battery may/may not die by a few years and also, Iphones generally use up a lot of battery power so charging is required regularly. Despite these, the Iphone will not let you down. If it's a question of reliability and consistency, I say get other options. If you want performance, I say go for the 3GS!

The 3GS does a great job for me - I'd get one for that really low price and you won't be disappointed.

In a few years you can upgrade to a 5GS, and still be in front financially.

The 5th gen is coming out this summer...so the 3Gs value is gonna even more down and if you have problems less ways of fixing it..Just go for the 4th Gen (Y)
