Hey i've jailbroken then unlocked my iphone, now im tempted to restore it to a different firmware.
Will it remain unlocked or will it be locked to its original carrier again?

It definetly depends what software you are restoring to. If you're restoring to iOS 4, then yeah, you're jailbreak will go away. You can rejailbreak if you have an iphone 3g with redsn0w, but if not, you have to wait till Spirit releases its jailbreak
