Stolen iPhone? Can it be tracked.. anyone?

Postby nawkaw » Sat Apr 09, 2011 4:38 pm

My boyfriend had his iphone stolen/lost at the weekend and we're not sure whether to call apple or the police or who?
Can it be tracked without them?

Ive heard lots about them being stolen adn the sim taken out and the gps taken off..
So
If the sim is out can they track it?
If the gps is off can they track it?
If its off can they track it?

Or any of them together?

Can we track it? Is there any way we can actually, realisitically, get it back???

If your iPhone is lost or stolen, you can track it using the IMEI number or help from your service provider. If you have any active GPS tracking apps running on your phone (and the phone is currently within range) then you may be able to triangulate its location online. Barring these, your cell phone carrier is the only recourse.

I watched a my friend's site video once, and someones iphone got stolen, and they couldent get it back. They called apple, apple told them to call the police, the police told them to apple, anyway, I dont know if this would help, but heres the video:

You needed to install the tracking software & activate it before the phone was lost/stolen.
Sorry, but you can't trace it now...

IMEI tracking is very much possible with assistance from your carrier. Having GPS apps simply makes the job easier.
