Unknown Error 9006(itunes)?

So recently I've purchased a 3g iPhone and it said an update is needed so I decided to go to settings and update it. It kept on saying to plug it into iTunes and iTunes kept saying that my iPhone was in recovery mode and that I needed to restore it. So I click restore and click next and next again and the purchase starts. After about two to four hours, the purchase suddenly stops halfway and tells me that there's an unknown error 9006 and that there's a network connection problem. However, my internet is working fine for me and it always does that around the halfway mark.

Is it something with my computer? Or is it something with Apple Inc./my phone? Is there someway to speed up the purchase?
