What happens if u turn 3G off on an iPhone 4?

I turned it off, what will happen? Does that mean that if I accidentally get on safari, it can't charge me since I turned it off?
Also, when I'm in the car, the 3G sign shows up in the top left. Does that mean I'm using parts of my 200 mb of data?!

If you turn off 3g, the phone will access the Edge data network which is slower. 3g on the phone means you are in a 3g area. Your phone may or may not be using data.

--------YES!!!!!!! Only wifi is real, like a laptop! 1G or 2G or 3G or 4G... your using your carrier's 200MB plan, which, for an iphone, will last 1 day, nahhhh, maybe 12 hours...

3g just means its a faster network than the gsm or evdo networks, unless you have any apps that are currently updating without you doing anything like any rss feeds or a facebook/twitter app then its not using any of your 200mb
