Why does my iphone take so long to sync?

I have an iphone 3GS which I've had since July. Never had a problem with it until yesterday. I went to sync it with itunes to put a few new songs onto the phone. iTunes told me there was an update to iOS 5.0.1. So I (stupidly, in retrospect) let it update. Took forever and then when it restored my phone, it did my contacts and apps all fine, but took FOREVER to sync my music. I left it overnight and it only managed to sync up about 10 songs. What on earth happened and how do I fix it?

There is some glitch with that phone and the later ios updates. The best i can offer is to try to take some stuff off of your phone. It needs some space to work. (500mb at least). I'd hate to say it but you may want to revert which involves jailbreaking. Its' not a must but it would help. Also, if you've never restored it from scratch that always speeds everything up. Sux. I'm on a 2g so imagine my pain. The 3gs can go up to 5, but that doesn't mean it should. Your being taunted to buy a "new" phone silly.
