How long do I need to charge my new 4th Generation iPod Touch for before I use it?

Postby koltin86 » Fri Jan 14, 2011 11:05 pm

I'm getting a 4th Generation iPod for christmas from my parents and I want to charge it on christmas eve (tonight) so I can use it tomorrow, because with lots of electronic products you have to fully charge the batteries before you use them. Does anybody know how long it takes to charge, or whether I need to charge it? As some websites say that it's fully charged already. Thanks :)

Note that you say that a lot of electronic products require a fully charge. iDevices do NOT require this. The batteries used in iDevices and Macs do not have "battery memory."

Anyways, Apple states on their website that an iPod Touch will take 2 hours for a quick charge to 80%. Then, it will take another 2 hours to charge from 80% to 100%. So, it will take a total of 4 hours to charge it from 0% to 100%.

I hope this helps!

well I got one and I can charge it for about 3hours and it should last me the day. According to apple they say its 2hours for a quick charge (meaning about 80% of the battery charged) and 4hours to completely charge it so the batteries full. The battery surprisingly last a really long time even with a lot of social networking and gaming! good luck!

You should charge it. My parents charged my iPod touch when they got it for me last year. It should take about 3-4 hours...mine sometimes charges faster than that but when its new it could possibly need longer than that.

Enjoy your new iPod touch! I have the 4th Gen and it is amazing. There are soo many cool apps you can get for it.

Hope this helps:)

It is not fully charged, and you will have the sync with iTunes once you get it.

Let it charge for about 1 - 1.5 hours past when it says 100%.

Have Fun!!

NOTE: Turn the Wi-Fi off when not in use, same with Bluetooth and Location Services
