I want to know how many movies I can fit on my iPod touch. I've heard sizes from 4 Gigs to 200 megabytes an could never find an answer.

It all depends on the size of your ipod touch.

A digital copy of a movie can go from 80min = 1.01 GB (Devil) to as big as 2 Hrs 43 min = 2.23GB (Watchmen). A 2 hour movie is around 1.65 GB in size so if your touch is 32GB, you can fit about 19 movies if it was completely empty, since it isn't, lets say 15-16 movies (saying that you have about 6GB of other stuff on it including the OS).
You can double that number for a 64 GB touch and if you only have a 8GB it probably would be 4 two hour movies.

Depends where you get the films from. DVD rips are normally about 700mb, I think historically so that they fit on a CD, but as that's now mostly irrelevant, I'm guessing the people who rip them realise that this is a fairly reasonable size/quality compromise. Anything smaller and you'll start to lose too much detail but that might not matter for an iPod. HD/BlueRay quality comes out at around 8gb. DVDs are around 4.4gb which is probably why that size is also popular.
