IPod Touch 4g won't connect to wifi?

Postby aegelmaere55 » Fri Sep 16, 2011 10:33 am

I got my iPod about 2 weeks ago. It connected to wifi with no problems. Since about 3 days ago, I haven't been able to use safari or any apps that use the internet. It shows the 3 blue bars, and when I go to the list of wifi networks, it says im connected. But when i go to use the internet or an app, it says that im not connected to the internet. My mother has the same ipod as me, but hers is newer, and she connects to wifi just fine. Also, as far as I know, my ipod is completely updated.

Heres what i've tried doing:

forgetting the network, and then adding it again.
turn off wifi router and then turn back on
resetting router back to factory settings
restoring ipod to factory settings
renew lease
resetting network settings

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

I would suggest calling apple or setting up an appointment at an apple store, Cause it sounds like you have a real problem.

First, forget the network from your iPod again.
Then continue reading to resolve your problem --

Your primary DNS is not connected.

This is whats happening when you set up WiFi on your iTouch.

you go to settings > WiFi > when you select your network, and type in the password, it connects you to your router/network.
Now the router connects to the modem, and the modem connects to the internet. Basically your problem is that your modem isn't connecting to the internet, but you ARE connecting to the network.

Go to your modem, and there should be a cord coming out the back that you have to unscrew to get out, that cord goes into the wall(just to let you know which cord is correct)
unscrew that cord from the MODEM, not the wall, and screw it back in.

wait about 30 seconds and try to get on the internet again.

Plus, the iTouch4G has serious WiFi problems. If all of that above doesn't work, try consulting apple about it.
