Well if you click restore for your iPod Touch on iTunes, it will delete everything on it. So if you cannot transfer the songs, I would wait and even get a hardrive to put songs on incase you ever need restoring again.

what do you mean you can't transfer yet, and yeah everything will be gone so transfer purchase into itunes before even considering restoring.

OK. When you restore your ipod, its completely wipe out your ipod and puts on brand new software. after you restore it, it asks you if you want to use the back up the last time you synced your ipod, to be put back on the ipod. that way you dont lose your info from before. So WAIT until you can back up your ipod on your computer then restore so you dont lose your stuff.

First, important things that you need to do first is backup all the things using iTunes..
after that, purchase the ipod touch firmware http://bit.ly/firmwareupgradefreeiphone and restore it using iTunes

Yes. Restoring will wipe out all songs on your iPod.
If all files are still on your iTunes, that would be fine. You can sync to get those songs on your iPod again.
But if your iPod is the only place that has songs, you should backup all your iPod songs/videos before restore. Here is an easy way. That is to use this popular iPod to computer/iTunes transfer program called iPod rip http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/joboshare-ipod-rip.html

Many of my friends recommended it to me when I needed to backup all my songs, videos, playlists, photos podcasts etc. from my iPod back to my computer and iTunes.
With just a few simple clicks, it will help you transfer all songs/videos and other files from iPod to iTunes as well as from iPod to your selected folder on your computer.
More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song names and playlists are preserved.

Hope this can help.
