Why does my iPod run out of battery so fast?

Postby beauvis9 » Sat Dec 04, 2010 1:38 am

this has been going on for about a week now and it really bothers me
its a 2nd generation 4.1 version and ive had it for almost a year now
i use it at night on full battery an i mostly use facebook, and when i tun it off, it only loses about 10%

but when i wake up the next morning, the battery is on red!!
and i clearly remember it being on green, i really dont understand

also, my alarm clock is rite next to my ipod when i put it down, and it rings in the morning if that has anything to do with it lol

what do u think the problem could be with it?
oh, and it also takes FOREVER to charge, it stays on red for a good ten minutes which isnt normal

Why does my iPod run out of battery so fast?

I have a 2nd gen ipod touch running 4.1 also...to extend battery life I always turn off wifi, push notifications, location services, vpn when I am done on the internet. Also keeping the brightness level down a bit helps too.

And 10 min of the red battery charging is just fine...it usually takes up to 30 min at times for that battery to turn to green, normal.
Internet use is the biggest battery life hogger there is, so for that reason I power mine completely off after each use.

Try reducing the brightness. Turning off bluetooth.
Turn off anything you might think is draining the battery.

your ipod may be getting a little to old for the current time :))
you may notice this happens with a lot of electronics like an older phone for example.
im not sure if i understand correctly but it sounds as if your leaving it on all night? if so that is a definite battery killer

some tips to help
put it on hold when your not using it and when your listing to your music
lower the brightness
the signal in your computer may not be strong enough you need to have a good router!
try not to use electronics that will interfere with the signal while its charging (i.e microwave)
