so i got an ipod touch 4g 8gb and i have 2 pages of apps and 265 songs and i already have used up ALL my memory is it like that for everyone and i have no photos or anything?

Marketing calls it 8 GB because they consider 1000 MB to = 1 GB. iTunes actually considers it to be 1024 MB, which is the correct measurement. Combine that with the fact that iOS needs a GB, and that leaves 6.8 GB. Some apps take up more space than others. The space required is shown at the bottom of the app's app store listing.

Photos regardless don't really take up memory but when you get a new ipod, that 8 gig is minimized to 6.7 gigs I think. That's why its so little. 8 gig ipod is never the way to go.
The fact that the ipod software takes a lot of space and leaves you with nothing is bogus. Upgrade to higher gig.

You actually only have 6gb on it because it takes two gb to program it to do stuff and get those apps that come with it so the music probably took up most of the memory

100 pictures takes up more room than 17 apps btw, because that was the problem with mind. Thats not right though. I have an 8GB with 586 songs, 17 apps and 30 pictures with 500 mb left to store.
