If both desktops had the AMD HD 6970 graphics card and over 3.0 Ghz processor, and 12 gigs of memory and a big hard drive which would run better? The Mac Pro would run it through VM Fusion.

DCS A-10 is a flight sim, look it up
Thanks

You'll have to use Apple's included Bootcamp to partition your drive and install Windows 7 to run the Flight SIM at better graphical speeds.

VM's really can't run graphics all that hot, unless the sim is like really low tech, low demand.

A Windows box I believe will run it best, but your not just getting a MacBook Pro to run a flight sim.

1. Performance will be slower through a virtual machine on identical hardware.
2. OS X graphics drivers are slightly poorer in performance than those of Windows 7.
3. A Radeon 6970 will not run under OS X, there is no way to get multi-GPU cards working.
4. No 6000 drivers exist yet, maybe in a month or so there would be something stable from a 3rd party to run a 6870.
5. You are looking at $4,000+ for a Mac Pro with: 3.2GHz quad-core, 12GB RAM, Radeon 5870, 120GB SSD boot drive, 1TB storage, VMware and Windows 7. You can get a 3.2GHz QC, 12GB RAM, Radeon 6970, 120GB SSD, 1TB storage and Windows 7 for $2,000 from a system builder like cyberpower. Less if you build it yourself.

Mac Pro's can be used for gaming, even through virtual machines. If you want the best gaming performance or best value for money they don't come close. It comes down to how much you are willing to sacrifice to run OS X.
