Is a mac pro worth it?

Hey guys! I am a high school student and I am in need of a new laptop. Im seriously considering getting a mac, but I'm not sure it's worth the money. I am going to you it for basic browsing and a lot of video editing. I also download a lot of stuff and will be doing a lot of research and writing. Thanks!

The Pro, is made with power users in mind. Its outer body is (to some) more attractive then the white macbook, and has a back lit keyboard along with a few extra ports and such, but that's not why people should buy the Pro. People should buy the the Pro if you will be doing a lot of Video and Photo editing, tasks that will take a lot of computing power. Its really just made to handle more happening on it without slowing.

Mac are great, but so is any other PC laptop. The only reason you really need a Mac is if you are planning to design apps for the Apple Store for iPhone, iPad, etc. Otherwise, just make sure your choice has lots of processing power, excellent graphics card, plenty of RAM and an abundance of hard drive space for your movie editing. And a word of the wise when it come to computers, its old and outdated after 6 months. In the future you might also want to get an inexpensive and expandable desktop model as well just in case something happens to the laptop to back up your movies. Have fun!

Do you mean a Mac Pro (a high-end workstation) or a Macbook Pro (high-end laptop) because those are two very different things. The Mac Pro is an amazing machine, but it's way more than anything a high school student would need. The Macbook Pro will work just fine for you. You'll need at least the 15" model if you want to do a ton of video editing, but even the lower-end models are decent.

YES!

My family's Mac time line

Mom's iMac 1997-------------Mom's new iMac 2007---------My Mac Book 2008---------My brothers Macbook Pro 2009--------------- Dad's Macbook Pro 2011

I use mine on a daily basis. It's so simple and easy to use. I suggest you go to apple.com and look at the videos that describe the features of the MacbooK Pro.

The best thing is NO VIRUSES!!! :D

Once you go Mac, you wont go back!

Yes only because of the video editing. otherwise a pc would serve you much better and at lower cost.
