Macs and Blender/Unity3d?

Postby jayron18 » Fri Oct 07, 2011 11:59 pm

I am in the process of buying a new Mac Pro for the the programs Blender and Unity3d. My biggest concern is the processor. I am going to get the quad-core model but cannot decide on the following processor options:
One 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem”
One 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem”
One 3.33GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere

I am not planning on doing any intensive work, but I want to make sure I will have something that suit me for years to come. I have looked at the 8-cores but I want to stick to Quad-core because 1) Price 2) I do not plant on multitasking so I do not believe multiple processors are all that necessary.

Any sort of input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Any sort of input? Well then, Get yourself a PC with twice the hardware for half the price and 100 times the compatibility with the software market.

i have a i7 (8 core x2.97ghz) I have blender and unity3D

do the 6 core intel Xeon because that way renders go quicker because they are based on GPU and CPU

CPU - Central processing unit
GPU - Graphical processing unit
