How do i play a DVD on my MacBook Pro?

i just got a new MacBook Pro... everythings going fine until i want to watch a DVD... i saw other people ask the same question on yahoo answers and i did as one of the answers said...
as soon as the DVD player is opened and the DVD is inside, everything gets stuck. i tried many DVDs..same problem! helpp!!

You should just be able to put the DVD in and iDVD should open. It should just open to the opening where you select to play the movie and whatnot. If you really are having that much problems with it, then I would go to the nearest Apple Store or Best Buy and see if they can help/explain it to you.

try to launch dvd player first. its in the apps folder. then put the disk in. if it doesnt work, purchase updates to see if there is a fix. go to the apple menu, check for updates.

you just put the dvd in and iDVD should open up..
