How do I transfer my music from my external hard drive to Itunes?

Postby dour » Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:32 pm

I brought my first Macbook Pro after using PC's forever. I realize there is a heck of a learning curve. I want to transfer the music from my external hard drive to Itunes on my new Macbook. I want to just use the external hard drive for my music. Any help is appreciated!

I am not a mac user
However if you wish for the music to remain on the external drive
then simply connect the drive and tell Itunes to" Add Folder to Library "
I dont know if Itunes is different on a mac but the same functions should apply
navigate to your external hard drive and have Itunes scan that folder

If you open Itunes without the external hard drive plugged in .. you should not run into any issues until you actually try to play a song... at which point you merely get an error message and it wants to know where the song is... cancel out of that and plug in your drive...songs should play fine

have fun! Itunes rocks genius button is the bomb!

well it would be a lot easier if u have an ipod with the music. if you do have an ipod with all of it just plug it in and click transfer purchases and put in your itunes password. if u don't have an ipod your going to have to drag them into it or open the file with itunes.
