How do I measure the screen size of my macbook?

I need to buy a new battery, and I'm pretty sure that I have a 13 inch but I'm not sure. I know that it is the diagonal, but is it the 'inside' or just the actual display/screen part or the whole case/frame? I thought it was just the inside but I thought I would get a measurement more exact than what I got.

It is just the screen part not including the plastic or any other surroundings. By the way MacBooks only come in 13inch size anything larger is a MacBook Pro.

It is only the part that lights up, just the actual display/screen.

If it's a MacBook, it's a 13" model, the only size that Apple makes the MacBook. The screen may actually be 13.3", I don't remember, but in any case if you get a battery for the 13" model that is what you need.

If it says MacBook Pro, it could either be 13", 15", or 17".
