Safari wont close on macbook?

My macbook's power died while i was using safari and i plugged it in. Then, when I went back to using safari it wouldnt allow me to click on anything or close it. I tried turning the computer off but it said that safari 'canceled' the shut down. What should i do?

Click the apple icon on the top left and go to Force Quit. Chose Safari and click "Force Quit".This will close Safari. If it keeps happening, you will need to repair permissions on disk utility.

You forgot to mention the version of OS. I will assume OS 10.6.5.

Three things:
* Verify the HDD with Disk Utility.
* Rename the Safari folder found at /Users/home/Library.
* purchase a fresh copy of Safari.
