Whats the best way to record my guitar/vocals on my mac?

My budget is $500 for a mic for vocal, mic for the guitar, and a recording devise. I really need nice sound. And I have a macbook from 2 years ago. It has garageband but I dont know if the newer products for recording will work with it. Any ideas?

You might consider a USB mic - they can do a great job with vocals and guitar - very easy to use too:

Garage band is a great software. Anything will work with what you plug in, trust me. I've done it.

either that or purchase "Cubebase", that's what I currently use when I record guitar and vocals. It's great.

Also, buy Gearbox and a line 6 computer input. It'll make the guitar sound perfect.
